The Henry Jones is Australia’s first and only dedicated Art Hotel. Standing on Hobart’s waterfront where Europeans first stepped ashore 200 years ago, a row of historic warehouses dating from the 1820’s and a former jam factory have been transformed into an enthralling first class hotel showcasing the work of Tasmania’s finest visual and performing artists.
The Hotel has been created to present itself as part of a fusion of art, heritage, technology, tradition and nature - of exterior and interior space and form and to present art as part of the Hotel’s function, beauty, excitement and delight. The selection and placement of art will present the most innovative art space ever created in an Australian hotel.
Throughout the Hotel you will be fascinated by the unexpected combination of the antique and the ultra modern - its magnificent original staircase, soaring timber ceilings, restored machinery and all-glass atrium. The Henry Jones also preserves the intriguing and quite fascinating influences of a rich colonial trading history with India and China.
Situated Harbourside Hobart, 1 km south-west of Hobart CBD, 13 km east of Hobart Airport & 60 km east of the East Coast (Orford).
