About the Hotel

Raheem Residency at Alleppey Beach, one hour south of Cochin, is an 1868 colonial property which was passionately restored in a classic, Indian style in 2003 by a small Indo-European private limited company. It is now recognised by the Tourism Dept of India as a genuine Heritage Hotel of India.

Originally built by an Englishman it was the home of the Raheem’s, an eminent Alleppey  family, for one hundred years. This ten-room boutique heritage hotel has a Main House has six high-ceilinged en-suite A/C bedrooms, an airy Main Hall with original glass fanlights and window shutters, all furnished with antiques from Kerala.

A must for visitors to is the rooftop restaurant where a delicious range of fresh seafood and traditional Northern Indian cuisine is served daily, as well as the Ayurvedic spa run by a husband and wife team with more than 10 years experience providing traditional treatment in Delhi. The extensive library is well stocked with a wide range of books enabling guests to sit for hours on the breezy terrace and while away the time.

Location & How to get there

Located across a quiet road from an undeveloped beach rarely used by anyone except for Indian families on a Sunday afternoon and Raheem Residency guests.

As well as the beach Alleppey has a delightful network of canals meandering through the town and beckoning the beautiful backwaters into the centre. And the boat jetty, which takes you on your backwater cruise, only 10 minutes away.

Additional Information

Social Responsibility
We support our community by ensuring that at least 70% of our staff is local. We also ensure that all of our services eg. taxis, printing, photography, computers etc are from Alleppey.  Our food is bought locally. We contribute to local religious festivals. We support many local businesses and we encourage our guests to shop in the town.

We support through our own and through foreign donations a Study Centre for children whose parents are illiterate.  The Centre is manned by qualified teachers.  This new project has now grown to include some rooms for children whose parents have passed away.  And for the children of our staff, we pay 50% of their educational costs –school/college fees, books etc up to graduation.

Environmental Responsibility
The hot water is solar-powered and we practice rain-water harvesting.  We don’t like plastic and consciously take steps to reduce it. We have instigated eco-friendly practices with regard to energy usage among the staff and they are regularly encouraged to follow these rules.  For more information, please contact our office.
