About the Hotel

Among the most dramatic of the Aman chain’s string of inoffensively luxurious properties, Amankila’s biggest draws are its stunning cliffside location and “bungalows” – some with private pools – set like mushrooms into East Bali’s verdant green hillside. A spectacular three-tiered swimming pool fringed by eight lounging bales completes this paradise.

Despite its relatively lonely location, Amankila offers a surprisingly wide range of activities. Picnic at a volcano, go temple trekking, or tempt the Balinese waves on a bodyboard at the plam tree-studded beach club at sea level, close to yet another of the resort’s pools.

Food at Amankila’s two restaurants is the sophisticated-yet-globally-acceptable mix found at most Aman resorts, the bar has some unusual additions to its wine list, and service is almost uniformly superb. Don’t miss the Indonesian dance performances at sunset.
