About the Hotel

Imagine you are on Gilligan’s Island, but in Bali. And that you’re paying. Oh, and your bungalow is fitted out with mini-bar, air-conditioning and large bed. Now open your eyes. Surprise! It’s Waka Gangga, featured in the book “Hip Hotels”, a mere 22 kilometres from Ngurah Rai International Airport and set in scenic Tabanan Regency, Bali.

Yes, there are the rice paddies and bracing sea air, but your beach fringing the Indian Ocean is of volcanic black sand – so dramatic! The touches in the bungalows include accents of slate, wood, bamboo and stone, plus a generous draping of homespun fabrics and alang-alang grass roofing.

The health spa, pool, Jacuzzi and sauna are top notch, as are the stables – budding equestrians take note. The one restaurant serves up affordable meals and the “sunset cocktail” is complimentary, as is the tour of the famous Tanah Lot temple, only 8 kilometers away.

Location & How to get there

The ten bungalows of Waka Gangga perch on gently sloping rice terraces which fringe a sparkling black sand beach on the edge of the Indian Ocean.
