“Haven”; “Cool”; “Modern”; “Clean” – the Alila Jakarta doesn’t mince words in trying to separate itself from the chaos otherwise known as downtown Jakarta. Despite the hotel’s central location in the Kota area, 45 minutes from the airport, the Alila (that’s Sanskrit for “surprise”, folks) retains a minimalist feel at odds with its bustling surroundings.
The hotel continues this delicate balancing act in the rooms. The 215 rooms, suites and apartments – all designed by Denton Corker Marshall – employ judicious use of parquet floors, light and soft bedding for jetlagged executives. If there is not enough of a “haven” for women, the 15th floor offers 19 “executive ladies’ rooms”, too.
The inner peace extends to the hotel’s free and easy use of grammar. The buzz restaurant (lower case intended) features international favorites, Shanghai Storm serves Cantonese, Szechuan and Shanghai specialties, Space Lounge sells itself as a “quiet” bar, and mybodygym and mybodyspa will likely become “havens” for fitness fanatics.
Located in Central Jakarta, in the heart of old Batavia or Kota area, Alila Jakarta is near many historical landmarks. She overlooks the national Presidential Palace, the National Museum (Monas) and is just 4 Km from the city's business district and the biggest Indonesian trade centre. And 45 minutes or 25 Km from the Soekarno Hatta International airport.
Alila Jakarta is also becoming a destination it self. Its sleek informality provides Jakartans with a unique venue to see and be seen, making it the ideal residence for foreign and local, business and leisure travellers.
