About the Hotel

For people who have always been curious about camping, but without the bugs, damp or discomfort, Amanwana (“peaceful forest”) offers the perfect solution. A scattering of luxury “tents” offers “junglefront” or “oceanfront” views off Moyo Island, a short jaunt from the scenic east Bali coast.

Tents are waterproof canvas, but that’s the closest you’ll come to an actual camping experience. Wooden floors, high bamboo roofs, coconut pillars, coral-stone decks, king-size beds and open-air dining spaces complete the luxe-camper picture. Culinary options include lashings of local fare or Western delicacies. And don’t worry, it’s an Aman – so the jungle cove massage is also an option.

The island location takes advantage of the abundant natural resources with your choice of fly fishing, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, windsurfing, or just plain boating. Lazy people need not despair: there is also an outdoor pool for people who simply want to curl up with a good book.

 

Location & How to get there

Just east of Bali lies the nature reserve of Moyo Island that plays host to Amanwana. Fifteen kilometers off the coast of Sumbawa, Moyo is at the eastern end of the Nusa Tenggara islands. Guests may travel from Bali non-stop to Amanwana in an air-conditioned Cessna Caravan amphibian.

The state-of-the-art floatplane, operated by Travira Air, lands in the bay directly in front of Amanwana. Flying time is 60 minutes and guests need to arrive at Denpasar airport only 45 minutes before the flight. Guests may also opt for a three-and-a-half hour flight by helicopter. A helicopter landing area near the camp allows for direct access to Amanwana from Bali.
