Tanah Rata
Cameron Highlands
Pahang
Malaysia
At this stylishly modern resort, guests can get their fill of “colonial lite”: plantation shutters, timber-beamed ceilings, and French doors mix with luxurious fabrics, Tudor-style cottages and manicured greenery for a contemporary-day spin on what it must have been like to be a Malay plantation overlord.
Built atop the largest hill resort in Malaysia, Cameron Highlands is fronted by its own 18-hole golf course and includes a Spa Village on its grounds. Pastel Jim Thompson fabrics drape spacious rooms dotted with bespoke furniture and dominated by a four-poster bed. Rooms range from big (deluxe rooms clock in at 410 sq ft) to enormous (signature suites are 825 sq ft).
Dining rooms also nod to the past and the present. The Dining Room comforts palates with casual renditions of breakfast favorites and grilled items, while Gonbei features Japanese-themed elegance. Of course, afternoon tea is always a certainty at the Jim Thompson Tea Room.
Cameron Highlands Resort is located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200 km north of Kuala Lumpur on the east side of the border between the states of Perak and Pahang in Malaysia.
At about 1,500 metres above sea level, it is the highest area on the mainland stretching along a plateau set high above the river valley and enjoys a cool climate and fresh air, making it the perfect holiday getaway.
