Ihuru
North Malé Atoll
Maldives
Naysayers who like to stay at home may say tropical island holidays are more hype than substance. But chances are, they haven’t yet stepped foot into this resort, located on the relatively undeveloped Ihuru Island and blessed with a sublime beachfront of palm trees and azure sea.
Cone-shaped villas represent thatched luxury, all with ocean views and private gardens. Interiors are minimalistically minded, but splashes of color: lime, tangerine and yellow meld with wooden accents and comfy furniture. Open-concept bathrooms appeal to “secret exhibitionists” who still desire a bit of privacy. Deluxe villas include open-air jet pools.
When and if guests leave the comfort of their rooms, they can try the fusion of Maldivian, Mediterranean and Asian at Riveli restaurant, or a relaxing sundowner at the Velaavani Bar. Kick up your calorie expenditure with a spot of windsurfing, canoeing, catamaran sailing and beach volleyball. Don’t fret: Angsana also includes the time-honored Maldivian trio of spa, snorkeling and scuba diving options.
Direction To The Property From North - The Hotel/resort Is Located On An Island. From Male Intl Airport, 5mins Walk To The Ferry Terminal. Take The A Speedboat Ride About 20mins To Ihuru.
Eco-conservation
Such dedication to eco-conservation has since extended to the many marine conservation projects initiated by Banyan Tree Maldives and its sister resort Angsana Ihuru, of which the turtle and coral projects have proven particularly well-received among resort guests.
Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Conservation
Since the founding of our Company, we have considered the physical and human environment when making business decisions. The resorts and hotels that we have built have been constructed using design and construction techniques that minimise damage to the environment to the extent practicable. Where practicable, we also opt for environmentally friendly methods in our operations such as installing a biologic waste water treatment system at Banyan Tree Bintan to recycle waste water for irrigation purposes. In addition, we seek out opportunities to support local businesses. Each resort also carries out community development and environmental projects.
We use biodegradable toiletries which come in refillable containers made from celadon or ceramic. Our swimming pools and Jacuzzis use non-chlorinated water.
Wastewater is fully treated and recycled to irrigate the landscape and resorts. Refuse is treated in in-house incinerators or collected in a central bin and sorted for recycling. Steel is used in place of wood wherever possible.
Even in our spas, we shun hi-tech, energy intensive equipment, relying instead on the human touch and beauty of the natural surroundings to provide deep relaxation for our guests.
Through our tireless efforts, we hope to demonstrate that luxury need not come at the expense of the environment.
