About the Hotel

Mangenguey is an exquisite and remote 13-hectare virgin island comparable in natural beauty to the best in the world; she is located at the center of the Coral Triangle in the Calamianes Archipelago in Northern Palawan in the Philippines and is blessed with one of the world’s richest marine biodiversity zones, magnificent century-old cliffs, caves, ancient dwarf hardwood forests, wild orchids and pristine white sand beaches.

While Mangenguey is a work in progress, since January 2009, Mangenguey is now run as an island “Private Estate” that embodies Helena’s unique exquisite taste, selectivity, and standards, making it all the more exclusive and precious. 

The architecture is borrowed from the rich tapestry of styles; from the Asian vernacular, to the European Renaissance and Modernist movements, as well as the French Baroque-Rococo style. Her original style runs through everything in the island from architecture and décor, to cuisine and service, making Mangenguey a perfect destination for people looking for a new and exciting experience that entertains and enlightens. Mangenguey is now accepting a very limited number of guests to experience our unique brand of “barefoot luxury”.

The Cottages
At the edge of the gardens, a  few steps to the spectacular white sand beach, surrounded by trees and multi-colored bougainvilleas are three “Native Chic” cottages all lacquered in artist colours and decorated with Helena’s fashion touch. The “Mimosa” cottage has a master bedroom equipped with a queen bed, a second bedroom with two single beds, both outfitted with ceiling fans, a large veranda and a bathroom. The “Crimson” and “Azur” cottages have a bedroom with ceiling fans and two single beds and a large veranda and bathroom.

The Villa Suites
The magnificent PINK and BLEU villa suites have separate entrances, queen beds, luxurious bathrooms, cable TV, AC, internet access and a veranda with stunning oceans views, beach and the gardens. The Suites are beautifully decorated with a unique mix of original design pieces, antiques, recycled objects and some of Helena’s personal mementos.

Facilities & Amenities

In MANGENGUEY the service will be of barefoot luxury… 

The food is simple, fresh, and wonderfully exotic with an international flavor. Guest’s seat for meals together at our beautiful long dining table with a set menu design by Helena and serve by our butler. Our service is friendly and attentive.

Mangenguey is a retreat to commune with nature and recharge. As Helena has written in her journal “I go to hear the silence and see myself”. When in our island you may swim and snorkel in our reef, bird watch and track trough our forest. You may read a book watching the sea from your veranda, have a massage by one of our local “healers”, play billiards with your friends or watch the sunset while sipping champagne listening to Maria Callas! 

But if this is not enough, you maybe tempted to dive the Japanese wrecks and many beautiful reefs in the area.  Take a banka (wooden boat)  to exotic locations, uninhabited island and historical little towns.

We recommend a minimum stay of three nights for guest traveling from not to distant locations and a week for guests coming from far away!

We can also customize a package for your stay, tailored to your needs and desires what ever they may be……diving, nature exploration, or romance. You may also rent the island for a small wedding, family reunion or any other group functions.
