1 Nanson Road
Singapore
Billing itself as Singapore’s ”first hip art design hotel”, the Gallery hotel makes creative use of primary colors and sleek materials to form a sort of paean to post-modernism, a unique addition to the city-state’s skyline. Situated in a trendy entertainment district, this property is ideally located for thrill seekers and even offers views of the river.
While rooms would not be considered overly spacious, many do offer quirky touches that set this hotel apart: wraparound-corner windows, telescopes or gilded baubles adorn even the most modest rooms, and individually designed CYX Boutique rooms and suites make artwork of the rooms themselves.
Like the rest of Singapore, the Gallery hotel sees food as theater. Zenden serves guests both contemporary Asian cuisine and stunning city views; Bar 84 includes a Japanese magician; Sapporo Ramen Miharu offers, well, ramen; Torisho Take by Aoki offers authentic yakitori; and Satsuma Shochu Dining Bar features Japanese fusion and loads of super-alcoholic shochu.
Located along the historic riverfront area of the famous Singapore River, right in the heart of the hip and trendy Robertson Quay area and a mere 300 m from Mohammad Sultan entertainment district.
Within a kilometre from the hotel are Liang Court Shopping Centre, Fort Canning Park, Chinatown, Clarke Quay and the subway station, Clarke Quay MRT. Within a 10 minute drive is the Great World Shopping centre which houses several shops, boutiques, restaurants and cinemas, as well as Zouk, a Disco/club which was transformed from a warehouse.
