Minimalistically minded designophiles will flock to Singapore’s New Majestic Hotel, a veritable temple to “heritage chic” – a mélange of old and new design spiked liberally with mid-20th century flourishes. Nearly three years old, this 30-roomer boasts individually designed rooms, customized baths and a stunning mix of designer and vintage furniture that is saved from venturing too far into twee territory by the hotel’s bright, airy feel.
Aside from the private suites with private gardens and the attic-style loft beds scattered throughout the property, five of the rooms have also had make-overs courtesy of Singapore’s greatest talents from the film, theatre and fashion worlds. Downstairs, The Majestic Restaurant makes much of the hotel’s Chinatown location with its own spin on modern Cantonese.
And yes, die-hard extroverts can hardly find a better place to play than in the floor-to-ceiling mirrored rooms, or the “aquarium rooms” where bathtime turns into a performance. Never mind that the New Majestic calls bedding a “bedscape”!

Nestled at the edge of Chinatown, the New Majestic is a convenient 20 min drive from the airport, and just a two min walk away from the Outram Park MRT station. The city is located just five minutes drive from the hotel.
