About the Hotel

The Ambassadors House was home to the representative of Bangladesh until recently taken over and restored by its present owners. Extensive renovations saw the opening up of ancient archways allowing light and air to flood in.

The house is set back off the road and has a columned entrance leading into the sitting room with deep and comfortable sofas. Five bedrooms comfortably sleep 10 people. There are four double rooms and one twin room, all with en suite bathrooms.Three double rooms are on the ground floor overlooking the pool. The master suite and twin bedrooms are on the upper floor.

Designer Charles Hulse, himself a long time resident of the Fort, has captured the essence of what makes a tropical house special.

Location & How to get there

Travel time from Colombo is approximately 3.5 hours by road and approximately 1 hour by air. The airport is 4.5 hours away by road and 1 hour by air.

Ambassadors is one of the largest houses in the fort, ideal for a large family or a group of friends.

EXPLORE

Guided bike tours

Beautiful bike ride looped from Wijaya Beach through bird sanctuaries, tea plantations, paddy etc. An amazing (and quiet) way to see the inland of this country .
SEE

Galle Fort

Predominantly built by the Dutch in the mid to late 1600s the Fort is now a World Heritage Site. It has an easy going and delightful atmosphere. Some historians believe Galle may be the Tarshish of Biblical times where King Solomon obtained gems and, as you will see, there is no shortage of gem shops in and around the Fort
VISIT

Yala safari park

Ever seen a leopard or simply wish to see elephant, bear, crocodile as well as other wild animals. Leave Galle at 0300 hrs to get to Yala for sunrise. Head back to Galle after a tour of the game park, stopping at the beaches of Tangalla on the way. Be warned that leopards are shy and to spot one is not guaranteed.
