About the Hotel

Built in the famous Sri Lankan town of Galle, The Fortress takes its design cue from – surprise, surprise – the Dutch fort recognized by UNESCO as a world treasure, but – also not a surprise – The Fortress incorporates modern elements of luxury and convenience for an ultra-relaxing holiday experience.

Rooms – which come in five different decor iterations -- are a departure from the backward-looking design themes of other Sri Lankan properties, focusing on a restrained variation on glitzy contemporary, and views look out over the garden and infinity pool or the Indian Ocean. Landscape is suitably stylish and aggressively manicured but dotted with hammocks and daybeds to soften the effect.

Dining is as free-form as the design. Wood-fired pizza is available in the garden area, but guests can also opt for a meal by the pool, or on the beach, and on just about anything: your wish is their command.
