9/1 Ratchadaphisek
(alley of Soi Sukhumvit 16)
Bangkok
Thailand
The well-heeled – and secretive – are sure to find what they are seeking in this privacy-obsessed little hideaway placed fortuitously at the intersection of Bangkok’s business, residential and shopping districts. Girded by wooden gates and shrubbery on all sides, Maduzi (meaning “come and see” in Thai) only lets in hotel guests and restaurant diners, conveying a very “gentlemen’s club”-like feel.
Built on the site of a former Mitsubishi car dealership, this triangular building – made distinctive by bands of copper on its façade – hides generously proportioned rooms, designed in earth tones in contrasting textures of wood, linen, coconut shell and marble. All rooms have walk-in closets, infinity baths and beyond California King-sized beds specially made for the hotel.
The restaurant, La Truffe, offers southern French specialties in cozy surroundings dominated by a gigantic steel alloy screen inspired by Alhambra in Spain. An outdoor terrace, flanked by plants and a reflective pool, allows alfresco dining.
Maduzi hotel is located right in the heart of Bangkok with a view of Asoke intersection and Queen Sirikit Center. It is Bangkok’s main business and shopping district, with only 200m from the Sky-train and Underground interchange Asoke/Sukhumvit Station.
Additionally, Queen Sirikit Convention Center is just down the road.
