To visitors hoping to stay at a resort … but in the middle of a city, look no further than this sleek, high-style property on the banks of the Ping River in Chiang Mai. High-gloss surfaces, subtle textures and bright pings of color converge to create one of the more intriguing – yet low-key – hotels in the city.
Two types of rooms, clothed in the same “Asian contemporary” style, predominate: Deluxe rooms include private courtyard entrances, open plan bathrooms, teak and terrazzo floors. Posh Chedi Club Suites offer twice the space of Deluxe rooms, as well as heftily proportioned outdoor terraces.
Restaurants feature a similar high-style patina as the rest of the resort: northern Thai and “Pacific Rim” fare at the split-level colonial house comprising The Restaurant; wine and cigars at The Terrace; and a charming outdoor terrace and cocktails at The Bar. On banks of Ping River and in city. Intention of the scheme was to combine a city location with the atmosphere of a resort hotel, together with the integration of the existing colonial house.The Chedi is 8 km away from the Chiang Mai International Airport, and is conveniently accessible to local attractions like the night market, Ban Tawai antiques narket, Zoo, temples and host of delightful sightseeing venues.
