About the Hotel
To navigate this hyper-stylish group of Thai resorts easily, you may need a bit of a phonetics lesson. First of all, X2 (that’s “cross two”, guys) is a trio of resorts started by entrepreneurs Anthony and Kaewjai McDonald.In this case, the couple chose the charming location of Kui Buri (that’s goo-wee boo-ree), a mere three hours’ drive south of Bangkok– yet still secluded.
Set on four acres of “virgin” seashore, villas here boast walls of rock, wood and white linen, and a bright, toy-like feel. Suite Pool Villas feature outdoor sun lounges and beachfront locations besides the obvious personal pool. The Owners Villa, also on the beach, boasts a kitchen and outdoor showers.
The 4K restaurant (that’s “fork”) serves fusion dishes in a stark, basement-like setting that recalls the water bar at Parisian uber-shop Colette. Guests to the spa can opt to have their treatments either poolside or under a beach pavilion.
