There are long rows of tables where natives sell their own specialties like fried noodles, various cuts of meat and, being a river town, locally caught fish. It's all quite tasty and a real experience squeezing onto one of the little tables too!

The Apsara
Asian International
Considered to be one of the best restaurants in Luang Prabang. The chef focuses on quality rather than range, but there is still a very good selection of both Asian and international cuisines, many of which combine local ingredients and flavors with Western dishes.
Lao food is a taste sensation all on its own combining texture with flavour - and a number of the dishes are prepared with bark, wood and green vegetables collected from plants growing in the jungle to give it its unique flavour and taste.
Featuring a fusion of Asian and Western fare with a Laotian twist, the restaurant is situated at the quieter end of Restaurant Row, with an open-air spot. It's one of the town's classier joints, so expect to pay western prices.
